OHUHU WELFARE UNION.
Office of The President General.
Special Release 28/9/2020.
Umunne’m ndị Ohuhu,
I greet you all.
As usual, time has come again, for us to take action in the best interest of Ndi Ohuhu.
The political terrain, is once again becoming vibrant, with the announcement by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), of the release of a time table for the conduct of Local Government elections, in Abia State.
At this point of our political history, it has become necessary for the Ohuhu people to reassert themselves, by taking the front seat in deciding what happens politically and otherwise in Umuahia North L.G.A., as it affects them. Umuahia North LG.A., belongs to Ndi Ohuhu and Ndi Ibeku. In the circumstance, decisions concerning the selection of Chairmanship candidates for our L.G.A. election, must get the tacit approval and support of Ndi Ohuhu, before it becomes a realty. The era of a few Ibeku people taking decisions on what happens to Ndi Ohuhu politically, is gone.
To that effect, votes of Ohuhu people cannot be taken for granted ever again. We will look for credible Chairmanship candidates from all parts of Ibeku land, who have demonstrable understanding and solutions for the proper development, welfare, and advancement of Umuahia North. For so long, Umuahia North seems to have remained the exclusive preserve and piggy bank for a few persons. This sad narrative must change, and the time is now.
Never again will an aspirant of Ohuhu extraction be subjugated to go and pledge loyalty to a few Ibeku persons, before he is considered worthy to participate, and “anointed,” to contest elections in the L.G.A.
Ohuhu people must at all times, consider giving their block delegate/general election votes, to only a Chairmanship candidate and his Deputy, chosen by the Ohuhu people, irrespective of their home clan or political party affiliations.
Whatever happens in Umuahia North, affects Ohuhu greatly, so we should as a people, show interest and be in the forefront of who becomes the Chairman of Umuahia North LGA.
In this respect, we shall be convening a meeting this week, Thursday, 1st Oct, 2020, of select representatives of all the political parties in Ohuhu land, to further consolidate on the zoning arrangement of all the political offices zoned to Ohuhu land. This will all be done, in the interest of equity and fairness, and the peaceful wellbeing of the Ohuhu people. Ohuhu should be better organized now, to reap all the political gains obtainable in Abia State, and indeed, Nigeria.
I thank you, and I wish you all the best in all your endeavours.
Obi Aguocha,
Udo Ji Agu-Ohuhu.
President General, Ohuhu
