Army committed to improving accommodation standard for officers

The commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Brig Gen Solomon Kumapayi, has said the army is committed to providing standard accommodation for soldiers serving at the 143 Ranger Battalion Headquarters OVIM in Isuikwato Local Government Area Abia state.

The commander spoke during the commissioning ceremony of the Battalion Headquarters complex on Saturday.

He commended the commanding officer 143 Battalion Lt Col AU Iiliyasu, for his wisdom for putting up the befitting edifice for smooth coordination and planning of the unit’s operation.

He said, ” This singular act will go a long way to ameliorate the dearth of residential and office accommodation being experience in the unit.

“It suffice to state that this Barracks was built to house the Nigerian Army Language Institute and 143 Ranger Battalion but with some of the buildings yet to be fully completed, the accommodation challenge was further complicated when the unit returned from operation Lafiya Dole where the unit distinguished itself.

“The Nigerian Army is proud of you all, mostly the commanding officer for touring the path of the chief of Army staff Lt. Gen. TY Buratai in his quest for providing accommodation for personnel of the Nigerian Army.

“It is hoped that in no distance time the Nigerian Army quartering standard will be attained in your barracks”.

He encourage the officers in the Battalion to remain focus and resolute in the discharge of their assigned duties.

In his opening remarks the commanding officer 143 Rangers Battalion
Lt Col AU Iliyasu,
lauded the commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia for his support which made the project a reality.

He pointed out that the project was born out of dare need for accommodation in the Barracks.

Revealed that the unit intends to commence the building of a medical reception station in January 2021 and the project will be completed before the end of the year (2021).

“This Unit hopes that when the the construction project commences, the commander 14 Brigade would be respectful required to support the unit as he always does”, he said.
