DVC Academics Ebonyi State University Calls For Renewed Focus On Building Resilient Health System In Nig

Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Ebonyi State University Prof. Chigozie Jessy Uneke, has called for renewed focus on building resilient health system in Nigeria.

According to him, there is no doubt that sustainable development will be achieved within the health sector.

Prof. Uneke made this known on Thursday when delivering a Lecture at Ebonyi State University 14th Inaugural lecture helt at ICT Auditorium of the Institution.

The lecture was entitled “Building Resilient Health Systems for Sustainable Development in the Context of Convid-19 Pandemic and Future Global Health Challenges Through Evidence-Informed policy Making”.

Calling for resilient and sustainable systems for health investment, Uneke said robust monitoring and evaluation remains essential principles in resilient and sustained systems for health.

He added that RSSH will address barriers to health services, improve efficiency and effectiveness, promote integrated approaches, consider sustainability, encourage increase domestic resources and leverage digital health technologies.

He further stated that RSSH investments will contribute to making health systems more efficient and effective, improve delivery of high quality health care services as it deal with potential vulnerabilities, shocks and disturbances by developing absorptive, anticipatory and adaptive capacities.

He however maintained that with renewed focus on building resilient health system, health information systems and other health systems functions will improve.

In his remark, Governor David Umahi represented by the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Kenneth Ugbala commended Prof. Uneke for his support in fighting some of the challenges facing the country.

He then assured the University of his continue support in developing the institution and urged other professors and Academia’s to emulate Prof. Uneke in contributing to the development of the State and worldwide.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor of the institution Prof. Chigozie Ogbu, in an opening remark, commended Prof. Uneke for attracting numerous grants and contributions to the body of knowledge to the institution. He then advised other Professors to shun selfishness and impact to the Society meaningfully.

Highlights of the occasion was a conferment title and admission of Prof. Uneke into “distinguished Professor of Ebonyi State University”.
