In keeping with vision of the founding fathers of Gregory University Uturu, to create a global centre of academic excellence, management of the forward -looking institution has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a consortium of Chinese organisations.

According to a statement by the acting Registrar,Rev Sleek Ogwo, the collaborative agreement was signed between Gregory University Uturu and four organisations, namely, Nigeria- China Business Council,Nigeria- China Freindship Association, China Industrial and Commercial Enterprises, HUAXIN Arts and Troupe(HAAT),
with the aim of fostering closer ties between the institution, the four organisations in particular, the government and people of China in general. “The MOU seeks to encourage annual academic and cultural exchanges among the participating groups. It is also envisaged that the agreement will help facilitate execution of shared common missions while boosting multilateral relationships among partners.”

Reacting to the development, the Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Gregory Ibe, stated that the marriage between the institution and the Chinese consortium is “the productive outcome of many diplomatic shuttles embarked upon by me, aimed at opening up new business, educational and cultural frontiers for our institution in the Asian world.”

Gregory University Uturu has remained in the forefront of global education through her popular annual exchange programme with visits to notable institutions in the US and Canada. It is therefore believed that with this development, greater impetus will be conferred on the exchange programme, as educational and cultural tourism to the People’s Republic of China will be incorporated in the exercise.
