14 Brigade Nig Army Commences Exercise Golden Dawn For S/East
Commander 14 brigade Nigeria army Ohafia, Abia State on Tuesday performed the flag off of Exercise Golden Dawn across the state.
The flag off ceremony which took place at Amaekpu Ohafia in Ohafia local government of the state.
The exercise which is a routine training is carried out yearly by the Nigerian Army design to effectively check all forms of criminality and allow for the free movement of persons especially as the Yuletide draws closer.
The Commander 14 brigade noted that it will provide a platform to sharpen the skills of participating troops on the conduct of internal security operations.
Brigadier General MB Wabili said the exercise will run across the south east states as their areas of responsibility as troops will be taken through operational rigors to effectively respond to security challenges, ranging from kidnapping, banditry, thuggery, brigandage, armed robbery, cultism, communal crisis, violent secessionist agitations, farmers herders clashes and insurgency. Adding that it will be complimented by robust civil military relations activities in identified communities in the envisaged areas of responsibilities.
Contributing, the state governor. Dr Victor Okezie Ikpeazu congratulated the chief of army staff for the successful flag off of the exercise nation wide, noting that this intervention calls for critical stakeholders to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to stem the tide of crimes and criminality across the nation, particularly as the Yuletide approaches.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Heath, Dr Osuji enjoined members of the public not to panic at sighting movements by the military but rather support them by given out useful informations that will help them serve effectively.
The governor charged them to conduct themselves in accordance to the rules and be professional in the discharge of their duties.
