A progressive grassroot structure with members across the wards of Ikwuano umuahia federal constituency “YOUTHS FOR RENESSAINCE “has called on the member representing Ikwuano umuahia federal constituency at the Green chamber Chief Sam Onuigbo not to hide in shame any longer but to relinquish his seat without further delay .
The group who spoke through a message released to news men after their meeting yesterday relied on the federal high court judgement which ordered immediate removal of governor Dave Umahi and his deputy on march 8,2022 and the subsequent order of the federal high court which refused their application for stay of execution.
The group fulminated against the attitude of some law makers who pursue single-issued agenda there by undermining the integrity of democracy.
They called on the leadership of the peoples democratic party Abia state chapter under the watch of Rt.Hon. Asiforo Okere to dwell on the dominoe effects already created by the sacking of the defected PDP members in Ebonyi state to ensure that Chief Sam Onuigbo a culprit in the same defection saga surrenders the federal house of representative seat to Chief John k Nwadinobi who came second in the primary election conducted by the peoples democratic party in 2019.
According to the group “Nigerians have unequivocally demonstrated commitments to the sustenance of democracy ,it is therefore incumbent on the elected representatives of the people to work to entrench, deepen and strengthen the structures and institutions of democratic governance in our country and not to indulge in shenanigans and unethical conducts capable of eroding public confidence in the integrity of the legislature.There should be an end to capricious and erratic behavior of our elected public officers who pursue policies for their own aggrandizement but without success.The culture of impunity shall no longer be tolerated”
Finally, the group commended the judiciary for its courage in defending the constitution as well as the will of the people who express their votes during elections but are neglected by those they voted immediately the votes were counted. They however expressed optimism that the recent sacking of the defected elected political officers shall serve as a deterrent to unwholesome behavior of some of our elected leaders who tend to toy with the mandate of the people.
