ABA TRADERS CONVERT OSISIOMA FLYOVER TO SHOPING PLAZA
Nature they said abhor vacum, the uncompleted Osisioma flyover in Aba Abia state,that has not been completed after over six years, Abia state government started the project has been put to good use by Aba traders.
Aba traders known for their desterity in commerce instead of allowing the large area covered by the Osisioma flyover lie waste, has decided to convert the under cover of the flyover to a shopping plaza.
But the State government is not finding the conversion of its flag ship,the first in the state to shopping plaza by traders funny.
The governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has noted with great dismay, the recalcitrant attitude of street traders who have converted the space under and around the Osisioma Flyover into a market.
He said that this attitude is in defiance of several attempts by government to keep the area free of any form of street trading.
According to him “Osisioma Flyover is not just flagship infrastructural project of this administration, it is a major gateway into Aba and government will not allow the areas surrounding the edifice to be defaced by recalcitrant street traders.
Consequently, the Governor in a press release signed by the chief press secretary to the governor,Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka dated 9th, April 2022 and made available to our reporter in Umuahia today has ordered all those involved in any form of trading under and around the Flyover to move out of the area immediately.
“No form of trading there will be tolerated henceforth, the release stated.
The Governor ordered Commissioners in charge of the Ministries of Trade and Investment, Transport and Works to immediately set up a Joint Task Force, and work in conjunction with Osisioma Ngwa LGA and the relevant security agencies to carry out this directive.
“Effective Monday, the 11th day of April, 2022 any person found involved in any kind of trading under and around the Osisioma Flyover.
