GENERAL LAGBAJA CHARGE PARTICIPANTS TO REMAIN RESOLUTE

The General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Taoheed Lagbaja ably represented by Brigadier General Musa Etsu-Ndagi yesterday 13 June 2022 urged participants of the 82 Division Inter Brigade Warrant Officer’s (WO’s) and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer’s (SNCO’s) competition to remain resolute, while displaying high level of competitive spirit in their quest for glory during the competition.

He stated this during opening ceremony of the competition in Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks Ohafia Abia State. Adding that the sole objective is to assess and improve on the physical fitness of WO’s and SNCO’s in 82 Div while enhancing sportsmanship, esprit-de-corps and team spirit amongst others. It is also meant to build the troops’ individual and collective capacities in line with the vision of the COAS to have; “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”, he stated.

General Etsu-Ndagi enjoined the participants to put in their best in ensuring they give their best to their formation and Division at large.

Earlier in his welcome address the host Commander, Brigadier General Mohammed Abu-Mawashi thanked the Division for the opportunity to host this year’s competition, urged all participating formations to put in their best during the competition.

The Host Commander reiterate that the competition is an annual event aimed at improving spirit-de-corps, enhance physical fitness as well as to cultivate healthy rivalry among the participants. Stressing that it is meant to build comradeship and team work among troops.

The week long competition will feature others events such as map reading, combat swimming, weapon handling, cross country and obstacle crossing.

Highlights of the opening ceremony is the drill contest between 13 Brigade, 14 Brigade, 44 Engineer Brigade and 82 Division Garrison, group photograph.
