WARD CAMPAIGN TOUR ENDS IN UKWA-WEST
The State Chairman and his team end their ward campaign tour in Ukwa-West LGA, visit Asa South ward, Ogwe ward, Asa North ward and Obokwe ward.
Chief Mrs. Uwaoma Olewengwa denigrates the Abia State Government over poor performance, says Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu hasn’t performed up to the expectations of the people who had fought for his emergence as Governor in 2015.
The former Commissioner for Industry in Abia state, who’d once served in Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s government, criticized the government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu very strongly. She said it while addressing the people of Ukwa-West LGA on January 4, 2023. Acknowledging that the battle of taking power from PDP wouldn’t be easy, Hon. Uwaoma assured the people that their votes will definitely count this time, considering the new Electoral Act. She was of the opinion that apart from PDP in the State, the only political party in Abia, with a formidable structure, is APGA, and she went further to criticize against godfatherism that produced Prof. Uche Ikonne as a governorship candidate of the PDP in the State.
In the words of the former commissioner, “Abia has been unfortunate when it comes to good governance, and this time, we don’t want an anointed candidate to govern Abia, because godfatherism has really destroyed the State. As a matter of fact, what Abians need now is a person who is not tied to the apron strings of any politician. And because Prof. Greg Ibe is independent and competent, the possibility of him emerging as the next governor of Abia state is there.”
Speaking of Prof. Greg Ibe’s dispositions, she called him a perfect gentleman, who is always interested in the well-being of Ndi Abia. On hearing that Prof. Greg Ibe’s sister is married to an Ogwe man, she referred to Ukwa people as in-laws to the incoming governor of Abia, and she further stated that other governorship candidates in Abia are no match to Prof. Greg Ibe, for he has touched lives positively in different ways, without thinking of what he would get in return.
Continuing, she said, “Apart from Abia PDP, which APGA is fighting against, other political parties in Abia are insignificant. Abia YPP hasn’t matured yet to win a governorship race in Abia, and Labour Party is only known, because of her presidential candidate, but not a force to reckon with in Abia. The difference between the Abia gubernatorial elections conducted in the past and the one that will be conducted in March is that APGA will win at the polls and our victory will not be stolen, like PDP had done in the past. This time, Abians will vote for APGA and their votes will be protected, and the results will surely favour APGA candidates.”
Furthermore, she condemned the questionable means through which Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu made himself a senatorial candidate of the PDP, and she assured the people of Ukwa that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who has acquired wide experience in legislative jobs, is a man to be trusted, and not Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu that is a novice in the field. She then urged her listeners to vote for Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the APGA senatorial candidate for Abia South, Nwoke Adinigwe Ugochukwu, the APGA candidate for Ukwa-West/ West-East Federal Constituency, and then Mazi Ikechukwu Nwankwo, the APGA candidate in Ukwa for Abia House of Assembly.
The State Chairman of the Party made the people to believe that one of the signs of victory for APGA family was the defection of Hon. Uwaoma Olewengwa from PDP to APGA, and he praised Prof. Greg Ibe, whom he called a Human Developer. Referring to Mrs. Uwaoma as a woman political Iroko, Rev. Ehiemere commended her for taking a bold step and he saluted her courage.
Read him, “In life, there is always time and season, as stated in the Holy Bible. It is the time of APGA to govern Abia. Prof. Greg Ibe started his medical outreach since 1991, so he didn’t reach out to the people through his Medical Outreach Program because of the forthcoming elections, unlike other gubernatorial candidates, who have turned themselves into emergency philanthropists.” Then he asked a pertinent question, “What have Ukwa people gotten from the PDP-led government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu that will make them to vote for PDP candidates again?”
The State Chairman insisted that what Abians need is a strong Voice in the Senate and he recommended Senator Enyi Abaribe. His words about Mazi Ikechukwu Nwankwo, APGA candidate for State House of Assembly, were words of encomium and he emphasized on his doggedness and his consistent membership in the Party that led to his emergence as a candidate. In furtherance, the State Chairman of the Party criticized the man representing Ukwa-West at the Abia Assembly, saying that his time in the State House has expired, because he couldn’t fight against the marginalization of Ukwa people. Commenting on non-existence of State Government presence in the area, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere urged Ukwa people to change their mentality about politics by allowing a man of vision to speak on their behalf.
Presenting the Christmas gifts to the wards, the State Chairman told each of the wards that Prof. Greg Ibe gave them one hundred thousand naira, while Senator Abaribe added thirty thousand naira to it, and Nwoke Adinigwe Ugochukwu supported with twenty thousand naira. In addition, twenty cartons of noodles and thirty bags of rice were also given to each ward as Christmas gifts from Prof. Greg Ibe.
The State Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Uwaoma Olewengwa, Nwoke Adinigwe Ugochukwu, Mazi Ikechukwu Nwankwo, APGA Ugwunagbo Stakeholders’ Chairman, PGI Campaign Council Youth Leader and other party faithfuls were in attendance.
