I’ll Leverage My Connections To Make Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency. Better For All – Abia Speaker
House of Representative candidate for Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon Chinedum Orji has pledged to leverage his rich connections to better the lots of his people.
Chinedum Orji said that as an Executive member of the Common Wealth Parliament and the only Nigerian certified by the Common Wealth Parliamentary Academy, he will secure a pride of place in Nigerian politics for Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency.
In a chat with Thebridgenewsonline editor in Umuahia on Monday, Chinedum Orji who is Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly stated that his victory at the poll must translate to increased employment opportunities for his people and projects to improve infrastructure in the area.
The Speakers said although lawmaking is the primary responsibility of his target office, service to his people was what motivated him into the race.
The Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency hopeful therefore appealed to his people to stand by him as he declared himself most qualified for the job. He also declared his political party the PDP as the only party with a track record of delivering dividends of democracy across the state Constituncy and beyond.
“I am not going to the National Assembly for self-aggrandisement or to attract undue attention for myself, but to bring back projects within my first year in the Green Chamber”.
“By the grace of God, four of my colleagues will become Governors, as an executive member of the Common Wealth Parliament and the only Nigerian that is certified by the Common Wealth Parliamentary Academy, I will leverage my links and will be relevant in National politics”.
The speaker though not condemning the moving of motions in the green chamber plenary, stated that effective representative is not all about moving motions or supporting other people’s bills, but lies heavily on the amount of development attracted to the lawmaker’s constituents.
“What if I move motions for four years with no attraction of projects or employment for the federal consistency which I represent? Effective representation is not all about that, but also about results. I am assuring the good people of Ikwuano Umuahia that within one year I will show my scorecard ” He assured.
The Abia Assembly Speaker, therefore, charged the people of Ikwuano Umuahia to look beyond unseen political promises and focus on antecedents of PDP political office holders whom he said have over the years remained productive and accessible.
